Monmouth Junction, New Jersey and Heidelberg, Germany, June 18th, 2008: TF Instruments Inc. the developer of Ultrasonic Resonator Technology (URT) today announced a research and collaboration agreement with the Malaria Vaccine Development Branch of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The work will explore the utility of URT as a tool in various aspects of the research, development, manufacture, and quality control of vaccines. URT is a valuable new technique that provides information for characterizing a wide variety of liquid samples and helps reduce development time, provide more stable products, and decrease manufacturing costs. The technique is label-free, non-destructive, does not require dilution or other sample pretreatment, and works over a wide dynamic range. Applications of URT include design and monitoring of protein stability, drug delivery systems such as nano-particles, liposomes, and buffer and culture media control. Daniel Gau, Vice President of TF Instruments, Inc. commented: "We are looking forward to evaluating URT, in particular to investigate the characterization and quality control of protein-based vaccines. This collaboration is an important step to extend the application range of URT in the pharmaceutical industry".
About TF Instruments TF Instruments is a recognized leader for the Ultrasonic Resonator Technology; a fundamental ultrasound-based analytical methodology for the physical characterization of aggregation, phase transitions, and concentration in pharmaceutical and chemical samples. Among other applications, URT and the ResoScanTM Research System have recently been adopted for the physical characterization of nano-particle and nano-emulsions and other drug delivery systems. The Company maintains offices near Princeton, NJ, USA, and in Heidelberg, Germany. More information can be found at www.tf-instruments.com.
About NIAID The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), part of the National Institutes of Health, conducts and supports basic and applied research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases.
